NaPoWriMo🎙📚05/04/22 – Day 5.

💙Today’s prompt needed pondering upon, but the form that came to mind was a shadorma! 💛

And now for our prompt (optional, as always). Today, I’d like to challenge you to write a poem about a mythical person or creature doing something unusual – or at least something that seems unusual in relation to that person/creature. For example, what does Hercules do when he loses a sock in the dryer? If a mermaid wants to pick up rock-climbing as a hobby, how does she do that? What happens when a mountain troll makes pancakes? Happy Writing! Maureen Thorson.

The Twins - Artemis and Apollo

was finding modern
life, somewhat
hunting frowned on, but she was
Goddess of the Hunt

These humans
in the twenty-first
claimed hunting
was so cruel to animals.
Yet they still had war.

her twin brother had
urged her to
go to war
with him in Ukraine, fighting
the evil Russians.

She did not
think she would like it
She would have
to forgo
her beautiful bow and
arrows she used with skill.

Modern war
seemed to mean shooting
each other
with guns and
missiles fired from afar so
alien to her.

In the end
she decided to
go and fight
in Ukraine.
Their army had brave women.
How hard could it be?

signed up as Irina
She learned how
to shoot her
Kolesnikov and slept with
her own hunting knife.

did not like this war,
dead bodies
lay on the
roads, tortured; killed by shots to
the back of their heads.

One day she
saw Apollo and greeted
him with joy!
he was glad
to see her, he said Russians
broke all the rules of war.

She agreed
She suggested they
should go home.
He said no
he wanted to kill more of
the Russian soldiers.

She sighed,
Artemis wanted to
go home, yet
she knew his
mind, he wanted to win with
the Ukrainians.

They travelled
to Mariupol
to help to
the beleaguered citizens
from the bombed city.

They only
managed to get so
many out.
It was hard
work and involved covert ops,
running the gauntlet.

got shot in the chest
and went to
Which was in
the basement of the building
Artemis visited.

She was able
to heal him with her
hands and the
Doctors were
amazed at how quickly his
wounds were so well healed.

Let's go home
pleaded Artemis
Leave them to
their war, we
can go home, but they are home
Apollo replied.

So the God
and Goddess went home
thankful to
return to
their tedious lives, she hung
her bow up for good!
