Day 8 another day, another writing prompt. 🙂🙂🙂Today I thought a haibun was most appropriate.
Today’s prompt comes to us from this list of “all-time favorite writing prompts.” It asks you to name your alter-ego, and then describe him/her in detail. Then write in your a vlter-ego’s voice. Maybe your alter-ego is a streetwise detective, or a superhero, or a very small goldfinch. Whoever or whatever your alternate self may be, I hope this prompt lets you stretch both your writing skills and your self-knowledge. Happy Writing! – Maureen Thorson
Haibun - My Alter-Ego
My Alter-ego is Carolina de la Cruz. Devised when I lived in Spain to save me from having to spell my English name every time I booked a table in a restaurant.
She reappeared when I returned to live in England and I started to write and perform poetry. It was then I added the vixen of verse as my trademark.
Carolina de la Cruz had lots of confidence and never had butterflies in her stomach before she performed her poetry. She had complete faith in the poetry and performed it much better than I could.
Nowadays I have put Carolina back in the closet because she has inspired me to believe in myself. So now I perform my poetry with conviction and have reverted to my English name, Carolyn Crossley, 🦊VixenOfVerse. However, Carolina can always be recalled should I need her!
