Finally, hereβs our daily (optional) prompt. This one may seem counter-intuitive, but today Iβd like to challenge you to write a poem about something you have absolutely no interest in. This isnβt quite the same, I think, as something youβre indifferent to. For example, I have absolutely no interest in investment strategy. Anytime anyone tries to tell me about it, I want to put my fingers in my ears and go βlalalalalala.β My brain tries to shut down! This is honestly kind of funny, and I think this prompt has value precisely because it invites you to investigate some of the βwhyβ behind resolutely not giving two hoots about something. Happy Writing! -Maureen Thorson.

I chose Cricket which I used to go and watch for my two sons sake. It was like watching paint dry! Sorry Cricket fans. I chose to write it in the Aquarian Poetry Form.ππ€£

Cricket
Cricket
is like watching
paint dry. I don't know nor
do I
want to
know the rules. I
come for the tea and to
cheer on
my boys.
It's Sunday and
they like to play for the
village.
I sit
in a deckchair
under my hat, with one
eye on
my book
the other on
state of play, applause
quietly polite.
Wickets
mount up then comes
the silly mid on or
off, who
cares what
it means, I sip
my Pimms and lemonade.
A perk
from the
bar, it will keep
me going until tea.
I smell
cut grass
sweet summer smell.
I close my eyes to muse
away
time, a
sudden prolonged
applause brings me to my
feet, book
falls to
the floor as I
clap, thank God, it's over!
Come on
boys, you
won by 3 runs?
Marvellous I enthuse,
tea time.
