The fridge is 
full, the freezers too,
with so much 
Christmas food 
that we could feed an army.
Maybe the homeless?

The homeless 
people who sleep on 
our winter 
cold night streets.
So cold a young girl died, how 
many more will follow?

We hurry 
past them, not meeting 
their eyes, nor 
speaking to 
them as if they're not people 
at all. Please be kind.

Speak to them.
Give them money if 
you can or 
buy them a 
hot coffee or tea and a 
nice toasted sandwich.
