#NaPoWriMo #April #2023
And now for another (optional) prompt from our archives. Today, I challenge you to write a poem that addresses itself or some aspect of its self (i.e., “Dear Poem,” or “what are my quatrains up to?”; “Couplet, come with me . . .”) This might seem a little “meta” at first, or even kind of cheesy. But it can be a great way of interrogating (or at least, asking polite questions) of your own writing process and the motivations you have for writing, and the motivations you ascribe to your readers.
Happy writing!
❤️This poem came quite quickly and almost fully formed. It seemed to fit in rhymed quatrains (Abab). My muse came after all! 👌🤣❤️
Dear Poem
Yes, you, I know you are there
on the edges playing hide and seek.
Stop messing about, you know I care;
if I wait for a muse, we'll be here all week
Just let the words appear, my brain,
will pick them up, get on my wavelength.
You've done it before, you can do it again.
it's all to do with magnetic field strength.
Or is it quantum physics or just a quantum leap?
OK, I admit I'm not sure where you come from.
Sometimes you come fully formed after sleep,
or I have to write words that seem dumb.
Dear poem I think you come from the ether
I think all stories are there and you have to escape.
Find a poet or writer and your words bequeather.
Leave it to us your words to mould and reshape.
