NaPoWriMo – Why Do We Do It?

Why indeed? This was something I was introduced to years ago following a failed attempt at the National Novel Writing Month or NaNoWriPo which takes place in November annually.

I thought perhaps I should try my first love which is poetry. Established in 2003, NaPoWriMo is held in April every year. The website puts out a daily prompt which you can use or ignore as you choose.

I was successful this year because of 2 things, the lockdown and ignoring outside prompts and I went with my own flow. So sometimes I wrote about Covid-19, sometimes, other subjects.

I am happy with my collection of 30 poems and could even add my haiku which I started about half way through April and continue to do in May.

I like the challenge of NaPoWriMo so all things being equal I hope to do it again.
