**When is a Blue Moon not blue? When there are 2 full moons in one month. As there are this month (August 2023). The moon cycle is every 29.5 days and there was one on the 1st Aug and one today 30/31st Aug. This second moon in the month is called blue. Probably where we get the phrase, "once in a Blue Moon" from. This month the full moons have also been super moons, when the moon is closest to the earth and looks bigger and brighter.**
