🧿Haibun No.7🧿 – Horse Riding

As a child I always wanted to go horse-riding, but it was beyond my parents' financial means. Instead I read all I could about horses, their history, their stories and what the difference is between a horse and a pony.

Flash forward to me as a woman in my forties, living and working in Spain. There I had the opportunity to learn to ride. I went to the riding school and was put up on the largest horse in the stable given the reins with the Spanish instruction of "suave!" (gentle!) and off the group of riders went with me bringing up the rear. An hour later we returned to the stables, Rafa the stable manager asked me if I had enjoyed it. With the biggest grin on my face, I assured him I had. He told me he would teach me to ride.
