She was always there
in the background
waiting for him to 
notice her or to call
her. She hung onto
his every word.
She loved the way
his smile made 
his eyes twinkle.
She loved how he
made her laugh.
She loved him and
he threw it away.
But he couldn't
let her go so he
hung on to her.
Fitting her into
his life when
he could, but
she never got the
holidays with him
He spent those
with his wife and
kids. He took her
spark and her passion
as if it was his right.
She burned out and
hid away from the world
until she healed and
grew strong again. 
Her spark came back, 
she shines again but 
she trusts no one now 
only herself. Lesson learned.
