What is it like being a veteran?
Like everything else about getting old, it is not much fun. Oh, you can get a Defence Discount Card with lots of offers on things you would never need, or can't afford to buy anyway! Then there is the camaraderie of a local breakfast club, once a month, where you can put the world to rights, past and present. That's a good thing. Surprisingly while wearing my medal on a Remembrance Service Parade and when I went for a meal afterwards, a young waiter thanked me for my service. That gave me a warm feeling inside.
