Sometimes it is good to look back and read the poetry you have written in previous years. I am quite amazed at how good some of it is! Here I will either just reproduce it or edit it and post it. It has all been published on my blog previously under my pen name, Carolina de la Cruz. Please let me know what you think. (in comments) Constructive critique welcome,✍️Carolyn ❌❤️❌

Night Magic
Kiss the day goodbye, let it fare well into night.
Allow twilight's bruised purple horizon,
To melt into the star-spangled backdrop of night.
Ask our Lady Luna to rise and sit upon her throne.
Bathing the night in her stark white moonbeams;
Invite the little people to come out and play.
To dance, to sing, to fly, to flutter, to primp and preen.
To come alive under the cover of darkness, leaving the day.
Playful elves will make merry and down on the sleepy shore,
Sirens sing their songs to lure men to their graves.
Witches will dance in a circle, opening magic's door,
Between hither and thither, rich men, poor men, or knaves?
Who will arise on the last stroke of midnight?
Cernnunos, leading the wild hunt across the clear night sky;
The Lady Artemis calling upon her raven in flight.
As they rise and fall, leaving their trail to fade in silent sigh.
Dawn announces her coming in a pinky-lilac tint.
Brother Sun pushes back the dark night of his Sister Moon.
Elves and fairies, the fey folk yawn and vanish without hint.
Witches and mermaids are gone too soon.
Now here we are in our work-a-day world.
Where magic and myth have no place.
Here comes the lucky black cat with his tail unfurled.
Surely only a witch could have found the last parking space?
