Sometimes it is good to look back and read the poetry you have written in previous years. I am quite amazed at how good some of it is! Here I will either just reproduce it or edit it and post it. It has all been published on my blog previously under my pen name, Carolina de la Cruz. Please let me know what you think. (in comments) Constructive critique welcome,โ๏ธCarolyn โโค๏ธโ

Gate-keepers
The silver birch, the oak, the lime,
Guardians marking the passage of time.
Extend their branches to a twilight sky,
Gracefully waving the day, goodbye.
Their home, the forest, is a sacred place.
Where life on a tortured earth they face.
The pollution of the air they breathe,
Decays the bark, branches and leaves.
The mystic Fey Folk are long gone;
Of elves and pixies, there are none.
These gate-keepers, stand watch over all,
From stirrings of Spring to decline of Fall.
Guarding children, they guide and mentor,
Spiritually protect them from each tormentor.
Except thieves who steal their hours of time.
From the silver birch, the oak, the lime.
