On International Women's Day
Women have lots to say about their rights.
Yet some women's voices are not heard.
Afghanistan's women have lost all their rights.
Under the Taliban, they have been plunged
Into a dark age, of no voice, no work, poverty and famine.

Now with the wars in Ukraine and Gaza
more women are being bombed and killed.
Their children stolen by Putin's regime,
Or in the case of the Palestinian mothers,
Their children bombed from existence,
Beneath the rubble which was their homes.

So, we women in the West must think ourselves lucky,
Although we too have our problems with violence
Against us, loss of confidence in the Police,
When one of them ends up murdering, Sarah Everhard.
We have voices, we must use them to raise awareness,
We must bear witness, we must rise up!
