#NaPoWriMo #day02
Today, we'd like you to write a platonic love poem. In other words, a poem not about a romantic partner, but some other kind of love – your love for your sister, or a friend, or even your love for a really good Chicago deep dish pizza. The poem should be written directly to the object of your affections (like a letter is written to “you”), and should describe at least three memories of you engaging with that person/thing.
Happy writing!
DIAMONDS ARE A GIRL'S BEST FRIEND! (Free Verse)
In another life, I must have been a magpie thief
You glistened in my mother's ears,
tiny dots of
Diamond, how you caught the sun and sparkled.
Then you grew bigger, as you came in the
Shape of an engagement ring; you
adorned my left
Ring finger, announcing to the world, I was loved.
Now, all that is gone, firmly in the past of my life.
I buy you in jewellery by the carat, you still sparkle,
And dance in all kinds of lighting; and I love you.
I love you more than ever you are a constant in
My present life a legacy to pass on if I choose
Meanwhile, you are noticed wherever we go.
