#NaPoWriMo
Now for our (optional) prompt. Today’s we’d like to challenge you to write a poem rooted in “weird wisdom,” by which we mean something objectively odd that someone told you once, and that has stuck with you ever since. Need an example? Check out Naomi Shihab Nye’s poem “Making a Fist.”
Happy writing!
Only One Chef
If many hands
make light work,
why do too many
cooks spoil the broth?
One seems to
contradict the other.
In training when
we had to carry
someone on a
sretcher, over
rough terrain it
was true, many
hands did make
the work, light.
When I think of
cooks maybe,
they meant chefs?
I imagine Gordon
Ramsey creating
a flavourful broth,
he would have
secret ingredients.
However, the said
chef, would not be
preparing his own
vegetables, no
peeling or chopping
for him! Others would
do it for him, so many
hands do make light work.
Many hands make
light work while, too
many cooks do spoil
the broth, dependant
on the task in hand
is my conclusion!
