✍️💞NaPoWriMo 2024 – April’s write a poem a day💞✍️ Day 10💞✍️10/04/24

#NaPoWriMo

And now for our optional prompt! Ezra Pound famously said that “poetry is news that stays news.” While we don’t know about that, the news can have a certain poetry to it. Today, we’d like to challenge you to write a poem based on one of the curious headlines, cartoons, and other journalistic tidbits featured at Yesterday’s Print, where old new stays amusing, curious, and sometimes downright confusing

Happy Writing!
(I found this one on The Daily Haiku and couldn't resist it.)

NO POETS (Skeltonic Poem/Tumbling Verse)

No smoking, I can understand,
But no poets - it seems we are banned,
From renting an apartment - is it so grand,
As to be not fit for a poet to land?

Perhaps they think we will drink the rent.
That we are, mad, bad, and our time spent
Ranting and raving, highly sexed or bent
As a corkscrew or punching walls, making dents

Sorry to say that most of us are not tortured souls
We write because we must - oh, we do have goals,
To be published, of course, to perform, our roles.
You'll find us in nature, enjoying our strolls.

So please don't ban us from your apartments and flats.
Please, welcome us in without any
restrictions or caveats.
We are quiet folk and apartments our natural habitats.
If we become famous we'll earn your place - a blue plaque!
