In studies, scientists have found
that reading aloud aids memory
in both young and old people.
Why then do we read silently?
We use sound waves to read
aloud and deep within the brain,
we use electrical waves to read
to ourselves, so we should not
be surprised that they are similar.
Back before there was reading,
there was verbal storytelling.
This relied upon memory entirely.

So, let's speak our poems out loud,
read bedtime stories to our children!
