We all live in our own heads.
Talking to ourselves, always
checking, weighing things up.
Working things out, looking
at the pros and cons, is this
the right thing to do, or is this
just right for me, and what's
wrong with that anyway, Ego
asks, trying to sound convincing.
We pray for silence, a ceasing
of incessant chatter, and yet
in silence, we hear our heartbeats.

We count our breathing in and out.
Just seeking that illusive silence.
