A father's love

Why do I continue to do this?
Reply with stupidity to my father's suggestions?
He only means to help me
Yet I seem so negative towards his reaction.

In his eyes I am still his son
And he never fails to support me.
I must learn to be like him in his ways
Slow to anger and rich in love.

No matter how much I upset him
He always seems to reply with calm.
I'm sure it's taken many years of practise
To become patient the way he is.

I want to be more positive, just like my father
And learn to be like him.
So, I must listen without fail
and respond with calmness to his suggestions.

Then he can grow old
Knowing that I have become like him
Having learnt my lesson before it's too late.
And one day we will meet again in the realms of eternity.
