It's calm here, in the eye of the storm.
While the chaotic world turns outside,
Inside my mind, I am safe and warm.
Cocooned from the war and genocide.
Poverty, famine, mental illness abound.
But here inside, I weave my words
but with my feet firmly, on the ground.
So I can draw up energy, to
My message is simple, please, be kind.
It really is quite an easy thing to do.
Walk in another's shoes, don't be blind,
Feel their pain, they are just like you.
They hurt, they feel the same pain,
Just like you, they bleed the same blood.
They breathe air, they have a brain,
Beset by worries, deserving of your love.
Give them your smile, spare them
Your change, if you can, donate what
You don't need, please don't condemn,
Don't judge everyone as corrupt.
You don't know what demons they have,
Or the battles they fight, day and night,
A problem shared, is a problem halved.
Empathise, make your smile bright.
