🧿Haibun No.18🧿 – Word Weaving

"Where do words for poems come from?" the would be child poet asks.
I tell the truth and reply that they come from the brain and are written or typed on paper or a screen. She pauses for a moment, accepts the logic, and continues writing her poem.

Now she has got me thinking, where do poems come from? I think how words pop into my head to describe the indescribable feelings and emotions I want to convey. 

Do they exist somewhere else? Perhaps they float around the Universal Consciousness, waiting for a poet's consciousness to ponce on them and write them down?

because nature tells him to
poet's words flow

Or are they recollections and memories of our own lives and those of others we have garnered through story-telling?  Or maybe they come from the heart or the soul? Listening to other poets or reading famous poets' work? However they come, I am just glad they do!

magic out of the mundane
the flow never ends
