Triolet 🍀82 – Outcasts

#Triolet

Young people walk into me - on their phones,
Oblivious to what is going on around them.
When I speak, I can hear their inward groans.
Young people walk into me - on their phones.
They think I am invisable with a head full of stones,
But oh, the wisdom in there, each thought, a gem
Young people walk into me - on their phones
Oblivious to what is going on around them

As we grow older, we  are outcasts from the modern world,
Whose opinions are not sought or listened to.
We, whose wisdom has come into our own, finally unfurled.
As we grow older, we are outcasts from the modern world.
Women especially dismissed as woolly headed, hair curled,
Into grey perms, experience dismissed, we feel blue,
As we grow older, we are outcasts from the modern world,
Whose opinions are not sought or listened to.
