Domestic violence comes to the fore,
All that pain and angst needs to be released
But in the release, we mustn't close the door
On all men, some are violent , the beast
That rages within fueled by alcohol
and drugs, coersive control, gaslighting,
the tools men use, their victims to enthrall.
Then, they go in for the kill, rewriting
The rules, until women are cut off and give in,
Their children, used as pawns, will make them stay,
Their sanity challenged, use this lynch pin,
To finally leave, seek refuge today.
To survive domestic violence takes
Courage, even as my poor body shakes!

I went to an Open Mic night where a young lady really delivered a very raw poem on the subject of Domestic Violence, but we can’t tar all men with the same brush. Education is key here. We have to bring our sons and grandsons to have a healthy respect for not just the women in their lives but for all women. ❌️❤️🌹
