We live in a country of haves/have nots
A country that contains the wealthy
And the poor, the homeless - snapshots
Into another world that is not healthy
Some adults go hungry to feed their kids
They troll the food banks where others donate
Rising prices put the poor on the skids
Buying essentials on credit or the 'slate'
We are one of the world's richest nations
Yet, we squeeze the old, the sick, and poor
Grinding poverty without cessation
While the rich eat well and live in grandeur!
Why can't each person have their fair share?
Next thing you know, government will tax the air!
