Below zero
outside - frozen snow
slippery
ice to walk
on, better to stay at home
safe and keeping warm.

Pain flares up
in my hands and feet,
my back, neck
and shoulders
and bursitis in my hips
distraction needed.

A restless
night, pain meds only 
do so much
side effects
bring brain fog and bad headaches,
and spondylitis.

Reading takes
me to another 
world, to write
poetry
calms my mind, relaxes my
body to ease pain.
