Another enthralling medieval murder mystery from Ellis Peters.

Brother Cadfael saves the day again with the help of the Deputy Sheriff, Hugh Baringar.

We meet old and new characters in book 4 and hear of some of the intrigues that persisted in the civil war between King Stephen and  Empress Maud in the eleven hundreds.

Brother Cadfael seems to be getting on well with the new Abbot, as Prior Robert's nose is put out of joint.

I look forward to reading Book 5.
