A Birthday Poem
70 hands touching time should be noted …
echoes of Good Fridays nod agreement ,
Haleys Comet touched the perigree
a witch you say , a villanelle spoke verse of bereavement
but you are poetry that goes on ,
a great Crossley engine spits fire
Gatsby published his great this day
bananas went on sale, said London's crier
Dr Zhivago was born
you write in that great northern way
and so it seems necessary
to poetically wish you happy birthday !
