I did enjoy the story of Jenny Lind, but found the present day story very trite. Both stories were very repetitive. The time-slip between the two women was very tenuous.
Learning about Jenny's relationships with both Mendelson and Chopin was interesting, but Chopin's reliance on the two Scotswomen was laboured time and time again.
Deryn Lake should trust that her
readers are intelligent enough to grasp the meaning of Chopin's dependence on these women the first time of telling
