PROMPT
Now for our daily optional prompt. The surrealist painters, Remedios Varo and Leonora Carrington, moved to Mexico during the height of World War II, where they began a life-long friendship. Today, we’d like to challenge you to write a poem themed around friendship, with imagery or other ideas taken from a painting by Carrington, and a painting by Varo.

PFRIENDSHIP'S CREW
Moved on from those childhood friends,
Forged in the playground wild west!
Teenage angst, fragile friendship ends,
As adulthood commands, it's behest.
Motherhood companions to help cope
With the baby years, all those tears.
A need for adult conversation and hope,
To carry us through child-bearing years.
Domestic violence confidante sees
Too much, therapy moves me on
To divorce, surviving those stormy seas,
As the cycle of life rolls on and on.
Riding friends, where are they now?
Spirits of the mountains - apparitions.
Friendships forged in learning how,
Needed a country with conditions.
Neighbour turned friend, but beware
Is a vampire who sucks your life blood.
Mostly, these toxic friends can't care.
Just leave you stuck in the cloying mud.
Friends ride into your life for a season,
Boosting your spirit, giving you love.
Some to solve a problem, a reason
To find hope, worries to rise above.
Then there are the poets and writers!
They enlighten, banish the shadows.
Speak to our souls-the all-nighters,
With their heart felt poetry and prose.
Friends walk, trot, come with a canter
Through your life, with breathless haste.
Some stay for a while, the enchanter
Weaves their magic leave us in grace.
Friends will come, some will stay close,
Ghostlike, they inhabit your life path.
Some will be true, some the by-blows
Of life's journey, the least taken path.
Then there are those that are true.
They inspire, love, and raise us up to
Reach the mountain heights, those few
A new family we choose for our crew!
