🎶🎨NaPoWriMo – 30 poems in 30 days – April 2025 – No. 20🎨🎶

#NaPoWriMo #2025

Your challenge is, with this poem in mind, to write a poem informed by musical phrasing or melody that employs some form of soundplay (rhyme, meter, assonance, alliteration). One way to approach this is to think of a song you know and then basically write new lyrics that fit the original song’s rhythm/phrasing.

Happy writing!

WAITING FOR A WRITER TO WRITE

I see pages blank, pure and white,
Waiting for a writer to write.

I think I am lucky
To write in today's world.

Waiting for my sweet muse to arrive.
Those poems with rhyming words, he will revive.

I think I am lucky
To write in today's world.

The  bright colours of the words
Glow in my fevered brain.
Like an intricate dancer
Dances in sparkling rain.

My muse will make the words fit into a pattern,
Turning like those rings of Saturn!

Exquisite mosaic,
The letters form.
Give a reason
To this word art-form.

I think I am lucky
Writing in today's world.

Yes, I think I am lucky
Writing in today's world.

**I used the lyrics of What A Wonderful World sung by Louis Armstrong written by Sam Cook, Lou Adler & Herb Alpert. First, I deconstructed them, found out the syllable count, wrote new words to fit the rhyme scheme with a bit of alliteration.**
