#NaPoWriMo #2025
Today, try your hand at writing your own poem in which something that normally unfolds in a set and well understood way — like a baseball game or dance recital – goes haywire, but is described as if it is all very normal.
Happy writing!

Snow White & The Seven Dwarfs - A Sijo
A school production of Snow White - we lined up to be cast.
We all knew who would play the starring role, the teacher's pet,
But the rest of us mere mortals waited expectantly.
I was cast as the wicked queen, and Mum would make my dress.
We learned our lines and I tried to perfect my wicked laugh.
The caretaker was busy making and painting the sets.
At last the day dawned, my proud Mum was in the audience.
My dress with the blue velvet bodice and grey and white skirt,
Was much admired by the other mums, so my Mum was happy.
The boys who played the dwarfs were a fiesty, noisy bunch of lads.
The teacher tried so hard to control them but to no avail.
Grumpy and Doc, started the tussle, followed by the rest of them.
Snow White stood with her hands on her hips in complete despair,
As the dwarfs knocked over part of the carefully constructed set,
And they all joined in the fight with some dads cheering them on.
Luckily, the audience thought it was all part of the play,
And as the set was restored and the happy end concluded
Teacher took her bow muttering, " never, again!" under her breath.
