#NaPoWriMo #2025
PROMPT
Today, we’d like to challenge you to write a poem about something you’ve done – whether it’s music lessons, or playing soccer, crocheting, or fishing, or learning how to change a tire – that gave you a similar kind of satisfaction, and perhaps still does.
Happy writing!

HOW TO READ - A Villanelle
My mother taught me how to read
before I reached the age of four.
It was a precious gift I'd need.
That skill opened up a new creed
To new worlds that could never bore.
My mother taught me how to read.
She had the patience to proceed
With that little brain aged four.
it was a precious gift I'd need.
She bought books, my habit to feed.
Once mastered, I wanted much more.
My mother taught me how to read.
I started school glad to proceed
To read books, cross-legged on the floor.
it was a precious gift I'd need.
As an adult, now my mind is freed
To read all the books I adore!
My mother taught me how to read
it was a precious gift I'd need.
