we bask in the sun
like seals on the rocks
an early summer

an early summer
brings hosts of cherry blossom
petals falling

petals falling
on grass verges and paths
nature's confetti

nature's confetti 
spread before the squirrel bride
who digs for nuts

who digs for nuts?
those silly squirrels, hiding
them in the first place

them in the first place
women who are born female
trans women lose rights

trans women lose rights
one group should not make the
other groups suffer

other groups suffer
under the patriarchy
let all women be free

let all women be free
especially our Afghan 
sisters - let them speak!

sisters - let them speak
let them be equal to men
an early summer

an early summer
like seals on the rocks
we bask in the sun
