THE BURNING TIMES
From the times when they used to burn
women as witches.
Those cruel men showed no mercy. They smashed up
Innocent altars leaving scars on those descendants,
Who survived, a living legacy to the terrible crimes,
Inflicted by good Christian men, who listened to shadows.
Evil that was to mimic righteousness, when neighbour
Bore false witness, the wrong gaze could result in death.
Accused of flying on broomsticks in the night sky,
By the gleam of the full moon, with a trained familiar
On the back, the rustle of falsehood was completely ignored.
