It should be easy, shouldn't it? If you do it by direct debit, it is, you just cancel it on your bank app and inform the company.
If, however, you paid your subscription via PayPal, beware! You may end up locked in a battle with an unscrupulous company like CRUMB.
This company provides 'free' identity discs for dogs and cats and then persuades you to take out a subscription for £6.95 to help recover your pet should it be lost or stolen. Then, another subscription of £4.96 for 24 hour vet access. I love my cats and took out these subscriptions to keep them safe.
Unfortunately, I need to cancel them as with all the cost of living rises I can no longer afford to pay them. I sent them an email to cancel them.
8 emails later, they are still not cancelled. They keep offering me a month free, which I don't want. They tell me that I CAN ONLY CANCEL either on the app or the website.
The app tells me the only way to cancel is via email. The website asks for my email to send me a 'magic link', which is so magic it disappears into the ether.
Every person that answers my emails, Andy, Aaron, and Mary just keep sending me links that don't work! No one seems to read what I write in my emails.
THERE IS NO WAY TO CONTACT THIS COMPANY BY PHONE! Which says it all, really.
I have contacted PayPal, who has cancelled the subscription for June. I have also raised an official complaint to PayPal as my first request went in on the 22 of April, and I want a refund of May's payments. I live in hope.
Meanwhile, I have learned my lesson. I will only take out any future subscriptions vía direct debit.
I hope that the co-founders of CRUMB., Nick and Tom read this and take note.
I am a 70 year old disabled veteran and I don't need this hassle in my life!
