Past poets wrote about romantic love.
They have enshrined it with their archetypes.
Hero to distressed damsel - God above!
In this day and age, it really gripes.
The heroes, if they existed, are dead.
In these days of so-called equality,
While the patriarchy still lives, we dread
That there will always be inequality.
We are living in a lost and broken world.
Men and women cast adrift, unknowing
That the poor are puppets of the rich man's world
A world where the rich have power - crowing!
But they will self-destruct - given enough rope,
So for the poor people, we live in hope!
