💐💜🪻English Sonnets🪻💜💐 No 15 – Our Earth

#English #Sonnets #poetry

Summer meadows awash with wild flowers,
Tempts our senses with bright colours and scent.
Lying on the sands, the waves mark the hours,
We wonder if those harmful words were
meant.

The gulls fly high with their loud
mournful cries,
As they dive into the sea for some fish.
We listen to the powerful spout their lies,
As we slice avocados into a dish.

We are small, insignificant specks of dust,
On our loud, busy, spinning blue planet.
Our cars and machines abandoned turn to rust.
Sandstone grit, limestone, and solid granite.

Our earth will be here long after we are dead.
A comforting thought to take to our bed!
