#Book #review
Having read Bridget Collins' much lauded The Binding with enthusiasm for such a spell binding story, I dived into the world of Betrayals.
The author's writing style is enigmatic, but I found this book a bit of a slow burner. The author likes to tease us with bits of the story as she reveals each character.
I suspect we have all been betrayed in life, and the grand jeu is used as a metaphor throughout for the intertwining lives of the 3 main characters.
The threads running through the book are many. Power corrupts, everything changes, and you can hide from the world but not from yourself. Also that betrayal will creep up on you.
This is a veritable tapestry intricately woven with these themes and more. The denoument was shocking yet seemingly inevitable. No one walks off into the sunset unscathed.
☆☆☆☆☆ Highly recommended reading.
