THE ENCOUNTER

The fence stands stark against the snow,
Lightly frosted the cold slips into the
Cracks;  the wind blows cold from the
North. The fox found the food luring.
Snap! Too late, the trap grasps his leg-
Bone, in it's vice-like grip, causing the
Fox's leg to swell as he struggled to
Free himself.  She sees him from the
Windows of the old tower, where she
Lives, isolated and alone. Not a fan of
The Winter's cold she feels bound to help. She goes across the snow with
care, not wanting to slip and with her
Staff she prises open the jaws of the 
Trap. The fox removes his paw with a
Whimper. He allows her to clean it
and apply a herbal salve from the bag, She carries. They face each other, and
Then the fox disappears into the trees.
