The launch of Oldham's First Poetry Magazine on the theme of play was last night at 1853 Gallery & Studios at what used to be the Osborne Mill on Waddington Street, Westwood had a very good turn out. Conceived by the Cutureword team, it was a sell-out.
There were poets from the magazine who entertained a very enthusiastic audience with their performances. The lovely Ella Otomewo was the perfect MC
and always has such positive things to say about each poet.
We had tasty food and tea, coffee, or juice, which kept us going. As a poet, I enjoyed performing and I got to show off my new ' VixenOfVerse' jacket that my Latvian friends bought me for my 70th Birthday this year. As an audience member I was entertained and inspired by the talent and diversity of my fellow poets.
Well done everyone and a big thank you to Ella and the Cutureword team and to the 1853 Gallery team for hosting it.
On a personal note, it was lovely to see Jo Harthan, Bonnie Meekums, Geli Berg, Claire Sonia and Janine A Brown (The Manchester Cindrella) Dada, and thanks to Jimmy for taking one of my cards!
