I have known Stan Phillips' poetry from The Daily Haiku for several years and enjoyed it very much. His travelogue from La Cala on the Costa del Sol is also a particular favourite of mine.
I was really looking forward to reading his book 'Tales From The Village,' and what an enchanting and uplifting read it turned out to be!
Stan is the 'World Weaver' who has created a village and all its inhabitants, which could be situated anywhere. Each person is a unique imagining of Stan's fertile mind, and each person's story is like an adult fairy tale.
All his people are well imagined with good and bad traits, and the stories always have a wise moral embedded in them.
I found them all an entertaining read and was quite sorry to get to the final one. I do hope Stan writes some more.
After the short stories, there is a selection of Stan's wonderful poetry, which will inform, inspire, and entertain you as much as it did me.
I will leave you with a quote from Polly Topper's story; "Nothing was as important as they thought."
