As a British Forces Veteran I am incensed by Trump's rewriting of the Afghan War. How dare he say that our forces together with the armed forces of the EU were not on the front line.
Tell that to the 457 war dead families and to the 2,116 veterans wounded in action from the UK.
His remarks are untrue and highly offensive to the British Veteran Community. Trump has never personally defended his country, how dare he make such offensive remarks? Can't his advisors curb him? Why can't he get his facts correct before he opens his big, indiscriminate mouth?
The only good thing is the PM Sir Keir Starmer has slammed Trump unreservedly and quite right too. Trump should apologise and hang his head in shame!
The US called on its allies with Article 5 to go into Afghanistan after 9/11 and we all responded. Trump should get his facts straight. He seems to think he doesn't need allies. Really, Trump?
