Armour that encases the upper

Body made from Kevelar.

Closed around his or her vital organs

Dressed in a black uniform,

Every piece has its purpose.

From protection to suppression.

Gun in its holster, or rifle in hand,

Having to make split second decisions,

In life or death situations.

Just follow your training,

Keep calm but stay vigilant.

Let your brain think outside the box.

Mates are important - they have your back.

No time for nerves but adrenaline is pumping.

Oh! This is definitely no time for 

Panic - just follow the steps.

Question your motives and above all,

Remember to breathe, to reason

So that chaos does not ensue - use a

Tazer instead of a gun if it is safe to do so.

Understand your surroundings,  keep your

Visor clean, stay totally focused.

We will all survive this encounter - your mantra.

XX or XY chromosome- they all wear the same uniform.

Young and more experienced armed response officers,

Zealous in carrying out their duty - we thank you all.
