    #TheSundayWhirl #wordle745

    Wordle 745 Words:

shroud, symbols, water, rock(s), sun, tracks, spear, stolen, cross, promise, moon, trail,

    THEFT AND MURDER

    Strange symbols on a shroud
    Weighted down by heavy rocks.
As the sun goes down they lower
the body into the water, without
a word and watch it sink out of
sight; the tall one throws the spear
with amazing accuracy until it too
is gone into the now moon lit depths.

Now they all walk backwards and
    with branches obliterate their tracks
on the woodland trail. They had
fulfilled their promise to their family.
The stolen cross which was gold and
set with jewels lay heavy in the short
one's pocket as if he could feel its
Celtic aura filling his black heart.

**Warning: adult themes, war, torture, and domestic violence**

We still live in the patriarchy,
    where powerful men rule us.
We put these men in power.
    Then power corrupts and
    absolute power corrupts
    absolutely, look at Trump,
Putin, Xi Yinping, Kim Jong Un,
and all the other dictators who
in their frenzied power just want
to land grab and crush their opposition.

Wars that go on and on with soldiers
dying on both sides, civilian men,
    women and children mown down
by bomb, misile, bullet and drone.
Man's inhumanity to his fellow man
lies in torture, oppression and death.
History tells it's own story from which
we never seem to learn - greed and
dishonesty, fake news, and the rich
    getting away with heinous crimes.

People are angry, everywhere I go
I feel it's undercurrents, for the rich
get richer and more corrupt, while
poverty abounds in the working class.
Voices are raised in frustration at
our powerlessness to control our own
destiny, the future looks bleak and
dystopian. We think we have abolished
slavery but the modern slaves are exploited for sex and  domestic sevitude.

Men have power over women in the
    patriarchy. Women are murdered in
their own homes where it is labelled
as domestic violence. Call it what it is
    - murder! Don't sugar coat it with its
'domestic' tag. As a survivor of this
invidious crime I urge all in similar
    circumstances, grab your children,
get out, and stay out. Next time he
will kill you - don't become a statistic.

As women we must continue the fight.
Our weapons are our inner strength,
we are warrior women in our hearts
and must demand equality for us all.
For when women rise up let the power
mad tremble. We have carried the next
generation in our wombs, birthed them,
helped them to grow and flourish.
We demand our place at the high table,
without us you are nothing but pawns.

I am not calling for a matriarchy, I want
equality for women and men regardless
of colour, creed, gender or sexual
orientation. I want a fairer society,
where everyone has enough to live on
but no-one is rich and greedy. Where
we all have access to education, clean
water, nourishing food, and health care.
Maybe, this utopia can never be, but
how do we know if we don't innovate?

    when poets perform
they make us think with their
    wise words and ideas;
    we question our values and
    beliefs, we rethink our views

  • 🩷🍨💛SenHai Saturday #40 – By Susi Bocks💛🍨🩷

    #SenHai #Saturday #40 #poetry

Here is this week’s image to get your creative juices flowing!

Please create one senryu and one haiku to accompany this image prompt. Remember that traditional American haikus and senryus are three lines presented in a 5-7-5 syllabic pattern. The haiku describes nature or a season, and the senryu focuses on human nature and emotions.

This image is an underwater scene. There are large rocks in a variety of colors at the bottom of what appears to be an ocean, and thin streams of sunlight from the sun above shine down into the water.

Then, provide a link in the comments below or ping back to this post on your blog.

    We are not
    islands - secluded
    and alone.
    We are ships,
that pass in the night, touching
    our humanity.

    We thrive in
    the company of
    each other.
    When we speak
    words that bind us together
    - peaceful harmony.
