Andy N’s Workshop

#haikupoetry #tankapoetry #senryupoetry

Andy N, runs a workshop for poetry and prose fortnightly on a Thursday evening, at 18.30 – 21.00 GMT on Zoom. Andy is an enthusiastic host and comes up with interesting challenges which stretch our imaginations. We all end up writing a lot, that we can work on and produce new work from.

Oh yes, and it is always fun. We laugh a lot! A perfect tonic to the present situation.

I ended up with 4 poems which I have tweaked and published below. I also have 3 prose pieces that with a little editing would make great entries for flash fiction competitions. Something else to go on my to-do list or as I like to call it, ‘cosas para hacer.’

ESCAPE FROM THE STORM

24th Tanka

We bluster in, wet,
dripping rain, cats shake themselves;
lick their fur coats dry.
While I divest my wet clothes;
make hot drink in bare feet.

Storm Senryu 1

I exit - stage left.
I can't stand this storm of words.
I am off - anywhere!

Storm Senryu 2

Little Miss Molly,
gallops home - wet through - nearly
feral - She lives here.

Storm Haiku

Flash of lightning,
claps of thunder, rain pelts from,
the almost black sky.
