Growing old is a real revelation.
Becoming invisible is an application,
Thrust on you by young people's interpretation.
That you are not there in their imagination.
So seeks to sanitise the old from education,
In an effort to live in an Elyssian civilization.
But being old means we are wise
We could tell them stories to open their eyes!
Our life experiences can make us advise.
We could warn young people how the time flies.
How important are those family ties
And no-one lives forever, everyone dies.

*This is dedicated to the growing number of adult children who have estranged themselves from their bewildered parents, denying them any part in their lives. This includes my own elder son, Stuart Crossley - My door is always open, just pick up the phone and call, I love you and always will.β€οΈββ€οΈ*

Carolyn, I turned 70 a few months ago, and couldnβt agree more with your words. I have only one child, a son, that I donβt get to see as often as Iβd like. But I know heβd be by my side in a heartbeat if I needed him. So many of us older folks donβt even have that. π₯
