NaPoWriMo/GloPoWriMo – Day 1

Like a Virus

I had to go outside to see inside
to find that which I was looking for.
Sometimes there are things to decide,
reasons to cut the ties, close the door.

Like a virus, people can infect you with toxicity.
Which has to be removed to take away its clout.
Life can be some sort of synchronicity
when you decide to cut the canker out.

When it is not your decision, it creates pain,
it pulls your heart right out of your chest.
Causes sleepless nights when tears create their stain.
Red-eyed, no sleep merely gnawing distress, no rest.

Time alone in isolation makes everything so clear;
time to consider what is within your power
and what is not. Letting it go without fear.
Time to taste a sweet life, leave behind one that is sour.
