Catch my bad dreams but let the good ones go
down the dream catcher, let them flow.
Find their way back into my sleepy brain,
so they can play out to keep me sane.
Keep the night-time goblins out of my mind,
let not the nightmares slip through and unwind;
until shaking and sweating they bring me awake,
with a scream that could curdle blood, for goodness sake!
Daddy’s girl so he is there by my side to dry my tears.
Wrapped into strong arms, safe from night-time fears.
Mum brings hot milk sweetened with honey,
Dad tells me jokes that aren’t really funny.
Feeling comforted, Dad tucks me up in bed.
I am not far off sleep when the pillow welcomes my head.
I drift off back to the misty world of wishes and dreams.
My breathing is calm, I sleep far from night-time screams.
