Invisible Women

Women of a certain age become invisible.

We just disappear from view.

Our opinions are not sought,

they just aren’t listened to.

Yet, we are older and often wiser,

would make excellent mentors or advisors.

We may well have lived extraordinary lives,

not your normal nine-to-fives,

but how will they know if we are invisible?

How will they know if they don’t let us speak?

We are wise women, we know the score.

We’ve been there and got the t-shirt before.

We are smart, we are sassy we won’t be told what to do.

We have opinions due to experience, a different point of view.

None the less valid because we are women of a certain age.

So stop ignoring us, stop trying to bully us,

stop trying to silence us or young ladies one thing is true.

When you get to our age this could be you.
