Musings on a Brave New World - (Free Verse)

Appointment for my second dose of the vaccine
came through today; nice guy from DWP rang me,
to sort out the payment of my State Pension.
The trivia of my life comes and goes on a daily basis.

Will I feel safer after my second dose of vaccine?
Yes, I believe I will and start to go out again.
I think I have developed a fear deep inside.
Of being among too many people, a fear of infection.

Maybe I will still wear a mask, as people tend to
get too close, brush past you, cough and not in their elbows.
I think I see people differently now, as carriers of disease.
I have become a bit of a recluse and I have to say I like it.

However, maybe it is not a good thing to be shut away?
Who knows? We are all stepping out into a brave new world.
A new normal, whatever that will turn out to be.
I think my new motto should be 'Onwards and Upwards!'
